How do you feel about AI?
Kill it with fire. Keep it away from me. I will never use it at any stage in the writing of my stories, and I will also never knowingly use AI-generated images for designing my covers. (To that end, if you do ever see an AI image on any of my graphics, please PLEASE take a moment to let me know, so that I can replace it as quickly as possible.)
If you're looking for permission to use my work in training AI tools, the answer is no. Absolutely not. I will never give my permission for this.
tl;dr = Fuck AI
How do your content tags work?
My stories will always include a list of tags at the beginning, both to describe the general content and to warn for things a potential reader might find upsetting. I'm not in the business of catching people off guard, and the themes I explore aren't going to be everyone's cup of tea. If you want to read the tags before purchasing the title, just download a sample: the content tags will be accessible since they're positioned right at the beginning of every book.
If I ever miss an important tag, feel free to tell me so here. I'll always consider adding and re-uploading for the sake of thoroughness, especially when it comes to warning for sensitive content. The most important thing to me is making sure my readers feel safe engaging with my stories, and tagging is an important tool to achieve that end.
How do you decide what stories to write?
I like to call my books "id fics", because they're whatever I'm craving in my fiction on a given day. I write the stories that demand my attention, and the kinks that capture my imagination. Some of them cross lines that would be dangerous, immoral, or unforgivable in real life settings. But that's the nature of fantasy. Fiction lets us safely explore a world of unsafe situations without putting anyone in harm's way.
Why are so many of your stories only available on Smashwords?
Some of my titles contain taboo elements that can't be distributed to a wider range of retailers. Smashwords is welcoming to some taboo themes, so long as they're appropriately tagged, but those titles don't reach sites like kobo or apple or b&n. I try to make sure my more mainstream titles are distributed as widely as possible, but even those sometimes get pulled without explanation.
If there's a book that isn't available from the retailer of your choice, your best bet is to download your preferred format from smashwords and open the file manually on your device.
What's the deal with the Filthy Fragments series? Why write stories so short?
Sometimes I want to experiment with new themes without diving in to a full length fic. Sometimes I'm in the mood to write a particular kink, but I don't want to do anything that might distract me from one of my longer WIP's. Sometimes I'm too busy/don't have enough time, but still want to write and post a new story.
Thousand-word smutlets are the perfect solution to all of these challenges, plus they're really fun to write. Brief detours into shorter territory give me the creative space to play around with even more ideas at once.
Every Filthy Fragments installment will be free for a time, but older titles will cost ninety-nine cents. Eventually I'll publish larger collections together in more accessible bundles, so you can certainly hold out for those if you don't want to spend money on a thousand-word fic.
